Cotswold Motoring Museum

"what are we doing today?"

Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection is a fun packed indoor museum with loads of activities for the children.

The museum is bulging with great cars, quaint caravans, precarious looking motorcycles, enamel signs and an intriguing collection of motoring curiosities.

We have showcases packed with memorabilia, from gramophones to cameras, you will need to look high and low, and every corner is filled.

Throughout the museum there are sounds and smells from the days of the blacksmith through to the era of heavy metal and glam rock.

You will be delighted to find Brum. He lives here, in the Museum, and this is where he was filmed. He loves having his photo taken, so don't forget your camera.

Running through the museum there are quizzes, feely boxes, building games, brass rubbings, old fashioned toys and dressing-up boxes and this is not just for the grown-ups, kids can join in too!

"i'm hungry"

There are no refreshments available on the museum site, but there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and fish & chip shops within a few steps from the museum.

In the summer, many people bring along a picnic and sit by the river.

healthy food

There is a wide variety of catering outlets in the village to suit most requirements.

"Can I have one of those?"

In the museum shop, you will find all manner of gifts and motoring memorabilia.

We have models and toys for little (and not so little) kids, featuring Vanguard, Maisto and Cararama.

If a momento of your visit is what you're looking for, there is an extensive range of magnets, mugs and tea-towels plus postcards and pictures exclusive to the museum.

We also have a massive range of Brum items, available for fans of the museums famous TV star to collect.

"i need a wee"

Our toilet is suitable for disabled users and we have a baby changing area.

and baby come too...

There are no catering facilities at the Museum, but there are plenty of cafes nearby.

"are we there yet?"

We can be found off the A40, on the A429 between Cirencester and Stow in the Cotswold's, Gloucestershire.

Park in a village car park and follow signs to village centre, the museum is situated behind the war memorial off Sherbourne Street.

...got any top tips?

The museum is in Bourton-on-the-Water, which is a beautiful stone Cotswold village with a river running through it.

Bring a picnic to eat by the river, and remember some food for the ducks too!

Disabled access is available throughout the museum and Bourton-on-the-Water is particularly good for wheel chairs as much of it is on the flat.
